The Neurology department at Believers medical college is one of the highly reputed and sought after departments in central Travancore. Currently houses 5 highly reputed consultant Neurologists and 1 Neurointerventionist. Here expertise meets experience. It is a tertiary care and referral center providing a comprehensive care.
The department has a high volume for IP and OP patients, care being provided at ICU, HDU and ward levels, catering to various subspecialties – including vascular and stroke neurology, epilepsy, movement disorders, neuroimmunology, neuromuscular and cognitive neurosciences.
It is a comprehensive center for the diagnosis, management and prevention of stroke and other cerebrovascular disorders- We have round the clock facility for thrombolysis, imaging with a 3T MRI and a 128 slice CT which also involves advanced imaging modalities like perfusion studies and spectroscopy. We have a dedicated code stroke pathway and team each day. There is a dedicated 24 hours CATH lab providing DSA, mechanical thrombectomy and carotid stenting. The center has repeatedly bagged WSO- Angels award- diamond status for excellence in stroke care. We also focus on research and are a part of the hospital based stroke registry under ICMR.
With dedicated adult and pediatric epilepsy clinics running every week, it has turned to a tertiary referral center for patients even from neighboring districts. Our electrophysiology lab is equipped with modern facilities. We provide routine, portable and prolonged video EEG services and polysomnogram. Other services like Nerve conduction studies, EMG and evoked potentials are provided in the lab which currently houses 5 dedicated and well trained neurotechnologists. We perform more than 4000 procedures including long term VEEGs per year.

Academic sessions are regularly conducted every Wednesdays. Other sessions include Patient management conferences (PMCs) and Neuroradiology (NRC) conferences. We periodically conduct CMEs focusing residents and physicians in training (THE NEUROBYTES series). We also focus on research activities in various subspecialties and are a part of the hospital based stroke registry under ICMR.
