The Department of Nephrology focuses on the factors that are essential to improve the quality of life for patients on dialysis. As part of this, we cover all aspects for good quality dialysis like technically advanced dialysis machines, skilled technicians and nurses, clean and sterile technical assistance, regular disinfection of the dialysis unit, storage tanks and water distribution lines and education for patients and caregivers with a periodic questionnaire-based assessment of knowledge. One hour of physiotherapy is performed during the four-hour hemodialysis session to prevent complications and to improve the quality of life of our patients. This is rarely done in any part of the country. During each dialysis shift, all the patients are attended by a Nephrologist. All this is augmented with a holistic patient care approach to incorporate positive energy in patients. We cater to 185 patients daily and do an average of 1800 dialysis per month. We have eminent cardiothoracic and plastic surgeons for fistula construction, the lifeline of dialysis patients. We also have a Renal Transplant Program in association with the KNOS (Kidney Network Organ Sharing).
