Believers Church Medical College Hospital (BCMCH) in Thiruvalla proudly introduces Kerala’s first Integrated Precision Medicine Services, marking a transformative step in personalized healthcare. Spearheaded by Prof. Dr. Sumith K. Mathew, this initiative aims to tailor treatments to individual patient profiles, enhancing efficacy and safety.

Precision Medicine at BCMCH integrates advanced methodologies to customize patient care:

• Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM): Ensures optimal drug dosing by monitoring drug levels in the bloodstream, crucial for medications with narrow therapeutic windows.

• Pharmacogenomics: Studies genetic variations affecting individual responses to drugs, enabling personalized medication strategies.

• Enzyme Phenotyping: Determine the functional status of various enzymes in the body and thus help us plan drug therapy.

• Pharmacometrics: Applies mathematical models to study drug behaviour, to understand drug doses required for the population.

• Model Informed Precision Dosing: Utilizes developed drug models and Bayesian principles to fit estimated blood concentrations. This facilitates Target Concentration Interventions aiming for specific drug concentrations and achieving it with precision in the shortest possible time.

• Alternate sampling strategies: Establishes TDM using samples other than blood such as saliva, dried blood spots and hair samples.

• Innovation in healthcare: Develop medical devices, develop various tests and implement strategies, to foster delivery of patient cantered healthcare to common man.

These services are supported by our state-of-the-art Analytical Chemistry Lab, the first hospital-based facility of its kind in Kerala, enhancing diagnostic accuracy and treatment personalization.
