Date:  14-06-2025

Believers Hospital observed World Blood Donor Day with a blood donation camp and awareness programs organized by the Department of Transfusion Medicine & Immunohematology. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Geomcy George, Medical Superintendent. In his address, Dr. Geomcy George emphasized that a single blood donation can save up to three lives and highlighted the importance of voluntary blood donation, especially among the younger generation.

Dr. Abel K. Samuel, Dr. Anupa Jacob, Dr. Riju Mathew, Dr. Pramod Thomas, and Rev. Fr. Thomas Varghese also spoke during the function.

Doctors consucted informative awareness sessions on the relevance and necessity of safe blood donation. As part of the event, MLT students performed a skit focusing on the significance of donating blood.

World Blood Donor Day, observed every year on June 14, was established in 2004 through the joint efforts of the World Health Organization (WHO), International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, International Federation of Blood Donor Organizations, and the International Society of Blood Transfusion.

The day aims to raise awareness about the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood.
