RENAISSANCE 2026

The Department of Social Work organized a one-day workshop titled “Renaissance” in connection with the upcoming International Social Work Day on March 18.

The inaugural session was presided over by Rev. Fr. Sijo Pandapallil. The workshop was inaugurated by Mr. Sachin K. Thomas, Head of the Medico Social Work Department at St. John’s National Academy of Health Sciences, Bengaluru. Prof. Dr. George Chandy delivered the keynote address, highlighting the vital contribution of social workers in providing holistic healthcare.

Speakers at the event included Dr. Ipe Varghese, Head of the Department of Social Work, BCM College, Kottayam; Dr. Guru Nagarajan, Director of Rehabilitation at CMC Vellore; and Dr. P. O. George, Head of the Department of Social Work at Rajagiri Hospital, Kalamassery.

The workshop witnessed the participation of around 150 attendees, including undergraduate and postgraduate social work students as well as professionals from the fields of medical social work, healthcare, and hospital administration from various institutions.
