Dr. Shilpa Abraham is a distinguished and accomplished Pediatric Intensivist hailing from Kerala. After completing her MBBS and MD Pediatrics from Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, she went on to hone her skills in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at CMC Vellore. Her relentless pursuit of excellence led her to complete her DM Pediatric Critical Care training from the esteemed Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, making her the first DM trained Pediatric Intensivist from Kerala.
To further elevate her expertise, Dr. Shilpa trained at the world-renowned Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, known for its outstanding Pediatric ICU facilities. With over a decade of experience in managing critically ill children, she has held key leadership positions as the Head of Pediatric ICUs in CMC Ludhiana and Pushpagiri Medical College before joining BCMCH in 2020.
Her areas of interest encompass Pediatric ARDS, Mechanical Ventilation, Critical Care Nephrology, and Neurocritical Care. As a dedicated Faculty of the Transport of Sick Kids (TASK) module of the National IAP and EMCARES (Emergency Care Strengthening) in peripheral hospitals, she actively contributes to training doctors in early identification and stabilization of sick children. This joint venture between the Government of Kerala and IAP Intensive Care Chapter reflects her commitment to improving pediatric care.
