Overview

Dr. Thomas V Paul was Professor in the Department of Endocrinology at Christian Medical College, Vellore. After completing his MBBS at Thanjavur, he pursued his residency in Internal Medicine and his specialty training in Endocrinology at Christian Medical College, Vellore, and subsequently joined as faculty in the Department of Endocrinology there. During his study leave from CMC Vellore, he worked for two years at Basildon University Hospital, Essex, United Kingdom, under the International Sponsorship Scheme. Over more than two decades as faculty in Vellore, he has trained and mentored many endocrinologists across India.

Dr. Thomas has a keen interest in osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease, and has pioneered research in this field as Principal Investigator of several trials and through a number of epidemiological studies. His clinical expertise in treating pituitary, thyroidal and adrenal disorders, obesity, polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (formerly known as PCOS) and diabetes has been well recognised, as have his contributions to patient care, teaching and the training of endocrinology residents.
