PAEDIATRIC AND ADULT CONGENITAL HEART SERVICES
BIHC is one of the selected centres in the country to offer comprehensive cardiac care for congenital heart disease from conception to adulthood and for all paediatric heart problems. The paediatric cardiac team comprises of very experienced Paediatric cardiologist and paediatric cardiac surgeon, along with equally skilled paediatric cardiac anaesthesiologist and intensivist. Supported by a very dedicated team of nurses, technician’s, physiotherapists and perfusionists, the team endeavours to bring world class care to the children from all over India and abroad. As children with congenital heart disease grow into adulthood and later years, they find that their care becomes a problem. Our unit offers appropriate, advanced care for adult congenital heart patients of any age, whether they have unoperated or operated disease. The unit is backed by excellent paediatric and neonatology teams, with well-equipped ICUs. The Foetal sonography and obstetric teams are tuned to interacting with paediatric cardiac team for efficient antenatal and perinatal management of babies with congenital heart disease. Thus, a holistic multidisciplinary care is ensured to all children.
CARDIOTHORACIC AND VASCULAR SURGERY
The department is equipped with two state of the art operating rooms, 14 bedded ICU and dedicated step down ICU facilities and a separate 3 bedded transplant ICU. Comprehensive care is provided for the entire range of heart diseases in adults and children along with thoracic and vascular problems and trauma.
This state-of-the-art in facility is fully equipped with the most advanced equipments available in the country . The unit has the service of expert intensive care personnel (Adult & Paediatric) round the clock.
Cardiothoracic surgeons at BIHC are part of an integrated, multidisciplinary team of doctors and health care professionals who provide individualized care for each patient. In addition to the core team of cardiologists (adult and paediatric), anaesthesiologists and intensivists (adult and paediatric) there are Nephrologists, Neurologists, Radiologists, Oncologists, Paediatricians, Physical therapists and doctors in many other specialties as well as nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dietitians and social workers.
It is well supported by round the clock Laboratory, Blood Bank, ICU, Radiology and Emergency services to ensure that the patients receive the highest level of care in a timely manner. In line with its commitment to provide quality cardiac care, all staff in the hospital are Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified. Besides the code of ethics, we adhere to strict protocols to ensure optimal, evidence-based management of all cardiac conditions.
The department is all geared up with infrastructure for comprehensive management of cardiac failure. The department is actively performing Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery with future plans for Robotics and Hybrid Operation Theatres , befitting an international destination for cardiac care.
