Dr Saju Thomas is an eminent retinal surgeon who joined our Ophthalmology team as a visiting consultant in 2020. He has completed his Surgical Retina and Medical Retina Fellowships in 2003 at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle and has been working as a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Darlington Memorial Hospital since then. He received his MS Ophthalmology from CMC, Vellore in 1998, and also DNB in Opthalmology.
He is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh, Royal College of Ophthalmology, European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, British and Eire Association of Vitreoretinal Surgeons, and The American Academy of Ophthalmology. He presently has active research projects in age-related Macular Degeneration and Diabetic eye conditions.
