"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God."

Karunya Sparsham

Believers Karunya Sparsham initiative was started with the aim of providing specialist medical and surgical care in a state-of-the-art hospital to disadvantaged and marginalized sections of society. The underlying philosophy of this initiative is that no patient should be refused access to medical care due to financial reasons. Since its inception, Believers Karunya Sparsham has helped over 3000 patients with their in-patient bills. The scheme seeks to overcome the shortcomings of other health schemes that limit the scope and quality of the services offered.

Patients in need are identified by the primary physicians and are then referred to the Karunya Sparsham office where their needs are assessed, and necessary concessions made. Apart from corporate sponsors, individuals, including employees of the institution as well as other patients are contributors to this initiative. Funds have also been raised through concerts, food festivals and other crowdfunding events.

The initiative covers all aspects of a patient’s hospital stay including ICUs, complicated surgical procedures, etc.

The Karunya Sparsham team has visited homes of patients, spoken to government representatives (ward members, councilors, etc.), got in touch with religious organizations (mosques, churches, etc.) to ensure that the benefits of the initiative are extended only to those who are in need.

Over the years, a network of generous individual and corporate sponsors has been created, who are always willing to lend a helping hand. The team engages the sponsors through greeting cards on their birthdays and updates on the progress of the initiative. ‘Thank you’ notes from patients are displayed on notice boards in the hospital.
