In the village of Kuttamperoor, Mannar, 37-year-old Anita is the backbone of her seven-member family, battling against the odds. Once aspiring for a career in aviation, Anita’s life took a drastic turn after the pandemic and her husband Ambilikumar’s untimely death in 2022 due to cancer.

Left with a bank loan of ₹18 lakhs for their home and mounting medical expenses, Anita works tirelessly as a tailor to support her family, which includes her two daughters, both battling serious health conditions, and her ailing parents and in-laws.

Her struggles worsened after her own surgery two months ago, which stopped her income. The bank has issued a seizure notice for their house unless they repay ₹22 lakhs by March 31. In addition, medical expenses have left them with another ₹5 lakhs in debt. Every day is a battle to cover even the most basic expenses, and the thought of losing their home looms over them.
