Purpose of the CME Event

Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) is a critical tool in the era of personalized medicine. This CME event is designed to enhance the knowledge and clinical application of TDM among healthcare professionals involved in prescribing, monitoring, and managing drug therapy.

  • The purpose of this educational initiative is to:
  • Provide up-to-date knowledge on pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and their role in therapeutic decisions.
  • Equip clinicians and pharmacists to interpret TDM results accurately and adjust drug doses accordingly.
  • Review the importance of TDM for drugs with high variability in metabolism or narrow safety margins (e.g., antiepileptics, immunosuppressants, antimicrobials).
  • Prevent adverse drug reactions and treatment failures through evidence-based dose optimization.
  • Emphasize the importance of proper sample collection timing, handling, and communication for accurate TDM results.
  • Foster interdisciplinary collaboration between clinicians, laboratory professionals, and pharmacists.
  • Discuss factors affecting systemic drug exposure, such as organ function, drug interactions, and adherence.
  • Explore tools and strategies for integrating TDM into routine clinical workflows and electronic health records.
  • Share clinical case studies demonstrating the value of TDM in improving treatment outcomes.
  • Guide institutions on setting up TDM services, protocols, and performance monitoring.
  • Who Should Attend?
  • Physicians (especially in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, infectious disease, psychiatry, neurology, nephrology, medical oncology, haematology, and transplant care)
  • Clinical pharmacists and pharmacologists
  • Laboratory medicine professionals
  • Hospital administrators involved in patient safety and quality improvement
