God's Grace at Thiruvalla

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God."

On World No Tobacco Day, the Department of Pharmacology conducted a series of programmes for the first year medical students of BCMCH, in order to create a lasting impression in their young minds. A CME was conducted for the students and health professionals on "Global burden, Hazards and Cessation of Smoking and tobacco". Dr. Jacob Jesurun R S, associate professor of the department of Pharmacology and Dr. Karuna Sandra Thomas, Assistant Professor of the department of Psychiatry delivered the talks and Dr. Luke Mathew, Chief of Pulmonology, chaired the sessions. On May 31, "World No Tobacco day" was observed and conducted a poster competition for the MBBS students. Our director, Dr. George Chandy Matteethra gave the inaugural address. The students boldly presented their posters and were involved in active discussion with the judges. Our students undertook a "No Tobacco Walk" to Thiruvalla town, carrying banners and placards, and presented a special awareness programme to the public. A few of our students delivered fiery speeches against tobacco usage and were well received by the public.
